The flight over was uneventful and kudos to Turkish Air. We paid up for what they call “comfort class,” not quite business class but pretty close. Plenty of legroom and actually decent food. It was like the old days of flying. It was nice not to be worse than the the baggage, as is the norm for most U.S. carriers. They even had one guy in chef’s garb; not that he was actually cooking anything, but a nice touch. Overall we would recommend the airline. Loved the mini salt & pepper shakers.
Arrived at our hotel in the old city and we are resting briefly before heading out to try and figure out the tram, and most likely get ourselves lost. The view from our room is below. We believe it is the Hagia Sofia, which we visit tomorrow. It was built by the Byzantine emperor Justinian in the 6th century and was considered one of the greatest churches in Christendom.

this is so impressive and what a view from your hotel – you certainly are off to a good start.I know right now you are out on the water and with -hopefully-a cool breeze and really “cool” sites.Mom
