We lucked out with another beautiful day in the Baltics. Not my preferred temperature of mid-80’s, but 60’s and sunny. Where to begin after three days of touring? With our current port, I guess. Helsinki was very enjoyable. It’s a design capital, and you could certainly see it in the stylishly attired locals and interesting shops. As Jim noted earlier, he was posting while waiting for me at Marimekko, a Finnish company. (In my typical way, though, my one purchase was a handcrafted necklace made of recycled bicycle tires and computer cord, not the 1000 Euro coat I also admired.)
Luckily today was a mellow day of touring, since Pat & Jim’s Danceteria went on a bit later than it should have last night. (I still dance like I’m young, but my body reminds me that I’m old.) And, just like last year, we danced with the crew so we have a bunch of new Azamara friends.
Compared to last year’s cruise through the Greek Islands, the actual sailing scenery hasn’t been as amazing, but the ports are more interesting – with Russia still to come. Now it’s back to my kindle and the short stories of Nikolai Gogol – reading Nevsky Prospect to get in the mood for St. Petersburg. (Don’t worry, book club friends – I won’t force this one on you!)
first of all you should have bought the coat. Sounds like you enjoyed your day and if you'd like to come back its almost 100 degrees but the views are much different. I'll take seeing wht you are in the 80's.Not at all surprised about the dancing – its what you love and do. You'll recooperate and be ready for your next adventure.
