Chania Surprise

We are sitting at a harbor cafe in Chania, Crete, which for us was a pleasant surprise. We had not read about the town before arrival as the tour guide we bought featured the other port on the island. (We wish we could post a photo but the iPad we are using is not cooperating. Hate to give Microsoft credit but a netbook was more functional.) it is called the Venice of Greece and it fits. The Venetians ruled the town during the Renaissance era and their influence is clear in the look of the houses and the narrow winding streets. At least that is in as much as I know given I haven’t seen Venice yet. No canals though. It’s a surprisingly large city though the waterfront is typically touristy. Real tower of babble around here but the proprietor of the cafe we are sitting at seems to know about six of them. Time to drink up and move on until the next cafe with a wi-fi connection.
