Our two-and-a-half days in the coffee triangle were a big shift from the city touring we have been doing and exposed us to how beautiful Colombia can be and how friendly its people are. It is home to more than 1,900 species of birds and is second only to Brazil in the diversity of its wildlife. We only scratched the surface of what is here to see and if the country plays its cards right it could become an even bigger destination for eco-type tourism. A larger version of Costa Rica as it were.

We visited the towns of Montenegro and Salento, the latter another town reputed to be among the prettiest in the country. But mostly we just enjoyed the coffee and the scenery.
