That was basically our door-to-door travel time from home to our Johannesburg hotel, where we made a beeline to the hotel bar for cocktails. What else would we do at 10 pm on a Saturday? A two-hour maintenance delay for our flight from Atlanta to South Africa didn’t help, but no doubt about it, that flight is a haul. A five or six hour snooze and about four movies later and here we are. Weird thing was that we left in the dark but quickly flew into daylight and all the windows were shuttered so we could sleep, and then we arrived in the dark. Thankfully we were able to meet up with and old family friend of Pat’s that helped pass the time in Atlanta. The real part of the trip starts Monday after more plane and car travel. Hopefully we will have some connectivity so we can do safari posts sort of real time.
