| Second course |
Early risers that we are, we had several hours to enjoy the gardens at the Inn at Twin Linden before diving into the three-course breakfast.
Upon my request, the focus was on savory rather than sweet, so we started with an asparagus-crabmeat quiche, ended with eggs nested in smoked ham – with this lovely yogurt parfait and lemon cake as the sweet intermezzo. Delicious!
With such a filling meal we didn’t have to pay USGA prices for a hot dog at the Women’s U.S. Open at Lancaster CC. (Though of course we bought overpriced beer.)
The Open was fun, and though the men draw much larger crowds, it’s great to be able to get really close to the action. Jim took the shot below of Michelle Wie in her signature putting stance – though we were even closer at other times.
