Puerto Vallarta Reprise

We are wrapping up our return visit to Puerto Vallarta and Ocho Cascadas with some bittersweet emotions. The remodeled resort is still beautiful and the views terrific; for those that know the resort and have visited it either with us or on your own, know what I mean. The photo above was taken from a new lobby/entrance at the top of the resort. It is one of the enhancements that is a great addition, along with the new two-stage elevator. Ocho remains a unique property, but Pat and I are in agreement that we aren’t going to make another long-term commitment here at this time. Not that the refurbishments aren’t well done; they are for the most part, though whoever thought covering some of the chairs in a cow skin should have sat in one of them. Sorry, but they are itchy. But having the option to close off the  bedrooms via new glass doors to block the outside noise is a welcome addition as well.
As for PV itself, we have been coming here off and on for 25 years and on this trip we came to the realization that many of the visitors are getting older. We are among them. We don’t feel that old, and I’m certain most of the other visitors feel the same way, but the sea of grey hair and sagging bodies is a reality that cannot be denied. As such, we think future trips at least should encompass the exposure to youth, even if we ourselves cannot turn back the clock. So while we would never say never to a return to PV, we think we will explore other corners of the world first. (Suggestions welcomed.) In any event, here are some random photos from this latest trip. But in terms of Ocho itself, any return might have to involve the penthouse, because we are spoiled. But we shall see what we feel like down the road as we could come to really miss the place.
