Everyone living on the East Coast knows that the last three weeks have been hell weather wise. It is kind of hard to fathom that this latest stretch of winter weather has lasted just three weeks, but it is true. I played golf on MLK day and the first heavy snow came the next day. Luckily we had an escape to Costa Rica set up using points Pat earned through multiple trips to Denver and San Jose. Then began the latest travel adventure.
We allowed for plenty of time getting to the airport this morning, figuring holdovers that were delayed trying to get out of Philadelphia after Thursday’s storm might still be trying to escape. They were, but we thought the weather was in our favor today at least. Unfortunately, we didn’t account for a maintenance delay. Long story short, instead of routing through Charlotte and arriving in CR around 2:30, it’s now a flight through Miami arriving CR around 7:30. If the golf bags we checked earlier follow us to our final destination, I’ll be shocked.
In the scheme of things, we lost a couple hours of vacation time but at least we should get there today. Compared with some travel delays other people have experienced this week, we really should not complain, but a cocktail or two is likely in my future.
