We attended the opening act of the Prattt Place Inn extravanganza, hosted by our friends the Archers. We assumed the three day bash was geared to marketing the property to potential guests, travel planners, etc. Ah, methinks I’ve listed to too many CEOs blather about their businesses. Last night’s party, the ones to follow tonight and on Sunday, are nothing of the sort. After working for years to turn a family property into a high end inn, the Archers threw themselves a wedding. That’s how their son-in-law described it at any rate. Guests were all family, old friends and us, long-time acquaintances. It just goes to show the power of a nice note in an annual Christmas card. The band they hired, Ken Hatton’s Electric Rodea Band, was outstanding. Arch & Jane haven’t changed a bit; just a little older like us. Today we’ll tour the inn and venture off in the area, mostly to see what something called Crystal Springs, a coming museum of American Art that is intended to be Arkansas’ answer to the Getty in L.A. For those who scoff, Alice Walton has more than enough Wal-Mart stock to fund it. Interesting area, lots more happening here than we Easterners would have thought.
